Honokohau HarborComments & Photos from "Anonymous at Honokohau Harbor":"The restroom thing on the big island is just the pits. The people using the facilities do not take care of them and the harbor dept., I guess, doesn't either because of the absurd abuse that occurs. A vicious cycle that probably will never be resolved until we get some kind of security. They lock the restrooms at nite, sometimes. Sometimes they remain locked for days. On holiday weekends, they remain unlocked for the duration and you can see the result." "They have a lot of crime out at the end of the harbor in the evenings. There
is a gate that has a sign that says 'Area Closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.'
Well in the last year, the gate has only been locked a couple of times. Over the
Memorial Day weekend, there was gunfire out on the point. We've had spousal
abuse problems and of course the associated garbage, broken bottles etc., that
goes along with long weekends." Honokohau Bathrooms
